Queen Ginga and Jaga, mercenary warriors and fearsome
Queen Ginga or Nzingha (1582-1663) was a true warrior, a leader of men. Known
as a visionary political leader, Ginga was completely devoted to the resistance movement. The elders say she possessed masculine hardness and feminine charm. He died 17 December 1663 opened the doors to the massive trade in slaves by the Portuguese. Ginga, there is a street in Luanda that bears his name and brand of coffee. The period of slavery remains a museum: the museum of slaves, located 32 km from Luanda to Benfica. Built on the edge of a hill, surrounded by water, the museum looks after the collective memory.
